forever is possibles

Gettin' the hang of it...
A few words that sum up the day:

sleepless

thrifty

scrap material

patience

yoga

breakfast for dinner

For me, the day started as a typical day here at the Holland-Hernandez abode, also known as the H&H cottage, which I just made up on the spot. Sage was sent to school with farewells and kisses, I (kylee aka boots) headed off to one of my many women or gender studies courses, and Jess (aka barefeet) went down to the basement for another morning of crafting and sewing in our newly remodeled basement- which by the way I wish I had a before and after picture of! We are not nearly finished with the transformation of the basement here at 425, but Jess and I have made huge steps. We live in an 8plex apartment type home, with a shared basement which no one had declared theirs or even stored things in, and there was tons of not- in- use space which was covered in dust and cobwebs. We decided this was to be our crafting space, and it couldn't be more perfect! We will get pictures up as soon as it starts to look even more snazzy.

further events unfolding.

these.
are our chairs in our living-bed of a room.

we found an even more amazing chair to replace the one on the right (and move it to our downstairs crafting facility). The new chair is brown, gray, dark tweed and beautiful.
Best Part? 10 dollars.

I was able to purchase a new, unbelievable rocking chair, and upwards of fifteen crafting t-shirts for under 20 dollars!

Sage is in trouble again at school, and I say that in the best possible way, she is not by any means a bad child. I am beginning to think all of her behavior problems at school only have to do with her running her mouth all of the time, she always has something to say.
As any four year old should.
And I hope that she really never stops all of the gibber gabber that comes out of her mouth, it really gives you a whole new take on the english language with the new phrasing and word choices that Sage uses.
Really gets my creative juices flowing.

so naturally,
Sage's punishment is...
Yoga all evening.
And I know what you are thinking, Punishment?! Yoga?!
And well, you are right, it wasn't exactly a punishment as much as it was something to get her back centered into
behaving better and listening, and, well,
Ill tell you if it works tomorrow..

Sage said probably the cutest thing ever when we sat down to write her teacher to tell her that Sage is going to act better tomorrow and listen. In the letter that Sage was dictating to me, she says at the end,
"forever is possibles- Sage"
It was just then that phrase became my life slogan.
The rest of the evening was calm and relaxed. Jessica and I sat in our rocking chairs and kitted socks.... Well, that is what we would like to knit, if we could ever get the hang of it. I finished a few more stitches than I achieved last night. And, I made Jess listen to my all time favorite guilty pleasure of a singer, Bette Midler, as we sat... knitting... And then I felt really hallmark-y.

I will leave you with a collage of a few things that make me smile, in hopes that they will brighten your day (or night), as well.

and remember,
   forever is
         possibles.

And a little song to send you off...

love Always,
Boots.

The ball is rolling, let the listing commence.

Last night, while Kylee and I were (re)learning to knit I somehow, while trying to make Sage a necklace ended up making this:

My knit was simple. I casted on 50 stitches, knit a row and then casted off. It was an experiment, really. Like I said, I was trying to make a necklace. I have 4 or 5 more buttons like this one, to adorn in front of the knitted flower. I plan to secure a bobby pin for a charming hair pin. Soon to be in the shop.

This morning while driving home from work I saw the most beautiful beaming sun rays. I tried to capture the view. The rays of light scaled across the sky like the universe floofed a big sheet of light on top of the earth while making the bed. It was a good omen, a day of productivity was in bloom.

Speaking of productivity:
we have our first listing in the store <3

These fetching pillows are up for grabs with twenty-five cent shipping!

So, we've got  a Facebook. We've got our Etsy Account.
My mission today:
knitting
listing
sewing
drinking hot tea
while listening to this album:

Shake your sultry groove thing, Creative Spirit.

Lovin' you family

home is wherever Im with you

Id like to introduce ourselves a little..

We have this fairly new family of three, continuing to grow each day. Molding into our little cottage life... which is actually placed in an 800 square ft apartment smack in the middle of the ONLY arts district in oklahoma city called the Paseo.

I could try to explain when or how I fell in love with jess,
but it would be too difficult, too numerous and there are forever changing reasons.
It must have started when I met her and she was fearlessly selling all of her possessions to start herself on a new endeavor, maybe it was when I felt her hands on my hips for just a minute as we stood, listening, below our mutual musical idol, or our cross country adventures and how she always makes my spirit come alive.
It could simply be her freckly nose, dready head, and inspirational personality that is like a wildfire as it spreads throughout our lives.
Jessica is the reason that I have so comfortably settled into my individual self.
She is the kind of woman that can make music out of a broken tambourine with wildflowers stuck throughout her hair all the while. She is everything alive

(she is going to kill me for using the most cheesy kissing picture on my first blog entry, but I do have an excuse because it is the entry that I am declaring my love- it has its right to be cheesy and romantic)

Point being, She is my lady, and together we manifest magical miracles
We make the world sing around us and other worldly issues seem miniscule when she is holding my hand.
The other most beautiful thing that she has brought into my life is, Sage.
Sage is our imaginative, bright spirited, arts and crafts lovin', four year old daughter.
She keeps this house movin' and shakin'. And you cannot imagine how many ideas you can get from a four year old's babbling speech. I learn so many things from that girl's growing mind every single day. She keeps a smile on my face and my mind always moving... along with my feet.

these two keep my heart pumping

I was supposed to write this entry about knitting... but there is nothing to say about knitting except.
knitting hell.
Jessica is so good at anything she picks up, and I am such a perfectionist that if even the smallest thing is wrong I feel like I have to start over... So right about now I am living in knitting hell. I am learning though, baby steps. Jess has picked it up like a pro. psh. damn her and her crafty ways. I guess we all know who will be the artistic force behind this business...

This is what I finished in two hours of attempting to knit.

the first plan of action; headbands.

and Ill leave this with you,

I’ll follow you into the park, through the jungle, through the dark Girl, I’ve never loved one like you Moats & boats & waterfalls, alley ways & pay phone calls I’ve been everywhere with you

love always,

boots.

I'm not only excited but incredibly overwhelmed. During meditation earlier today it was all I could think about. It didn't help that we, Kylee and I, arrived unknowingly late. There's not really a way to soften your intrusion while you tiptoe to get your comfort gear and get settled.

Back to my original point: All I could think about what Boots & Barefeet, whom I will  from hereon refer to B&B. When the man told me to vision a peaceful outdoor place all I could see was the pile of ties I had stacked in front of my sewing machine and the hot basement in which they reside.

So, this isn't my first time at the rodeo, or whatever the expression is. I started a hoop business that was tainted and left to wilt. I was down with the eBay movement when it first started- had a mannequin, business cards and everything. I remember selling quite a few of those goth pants. Remember these?

I also had a couple blogs. I lived through Liveournal. I blogged about weight, girlfriend drama, moving to Oklahoma. I blogged more recently about two juice feasts I attempted to complete.

It's Jessica (Barefeet) here. I'm on the right. Kylee (Boots, left) will be making our next post. Her real name is Kylee Free La Luna Husheenee and she pretty much makes the earth rotate according to my records. I adore that woman. She's the most optimistic person I know. That girl can make magic happen. We make things happen. Which, in its natural progression is why Boots & Barefeet is at the very beginning of its life cycle. See, I have too many ideas. I want to knit. I want to go to pottery and make everything. I want to sew. I wanna knot up hemp. Henna. Sketch. I want to paint. I want to do everything. Unfortunately, though I'm in good with the woman who rotates the Earth I still cannot make my day any longer than anyone else's. Boots can, though. That woman knows how to stretch an hour.

Kylee and I raise a small brown-eyed monster, you see. She sings Bowie, has a hardcore flower addiction and will rub your head if you are blue. She's also a master manipulator at the precious age of four. Watch out for that one. She'll charm you.

My days are always a give or take. Deciding how I will spend our time gives us great flexability along with responsibilities restraints. I work at night, Boots is finishing school and has a sweet catering gig part time, Sage is in pre-school during the day. It can be hectic, arranging our schedules around each other but we always find that time together we need. If we don't, we get crabby. It's important.

I do consistently have a new song in my ears. This one, for example, is a new favorite.

Kylee and I will both be contributing to this behind-the-scenes starting a business blog. I'm sure there'll be all sorts of insight into our little cottage life together, the trials of doing what calls to you out and up, the adventures we have.

Stay tuned.

Lovin' you family.
